Argument at Gering residence leads to one shot and one arrested

GERING, Neb. Gering Police Department responded to a call regarding a male who had been shot around 8:00pm on the 2300 Block of 17th Street on Monday.

A male was shot in the upper torso and sent to Regional West Medical Center for surgery. As a result of the investigation, 67 year old Eldon Anthony of Gering was placed under arrest for 2nd Degree Assault. (KNEP)

When officers arrived, they contacted the three people who live inside of the residence.

Officers were told that an argument occurred between two of the residences in the household.

At one point of the argument, a handgun was used to fire one shot at the male that was involved.

Officers also located the male who had a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The male that was shot was transported to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance and underwent surgery.

The male’s condition is unknown at this time.

As a result of the investigation, 67 year old Eldon Anthony of Gering was placed under arrest for 2nd Degree Assault.

Anthony was transported to the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center and left in the custody of the Detention Center staff.

The Gering Police Department was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Gering Fire Department and Valley Ambulance.
