SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. For over 30 years, the Scotts Bluff County Volunteer Center has served the area.

One of their popular programs; Meals on Wheels.

This program runs Monday through Friday, delivers over 100 meals a day and over 25,000 meals a week.

It takes about 110 volunteers a month to deliver the meals.

“I feel as a volunteer that you get as much back as those as you are giving to,” explained Shanna Halstead, Executive Director. “That’s the highlight of volunteering to me.”

As you sign up to become a volunteer, you will have to carry meals, treat each resident as they were your grandparent and pass a site background check.

“We feel that as well as nourishing people with food, we nourish their souls by giving them a little visit every day and checking up on them,” explained Halstead.

There are plenty of programs you can volunteer for including Shopping for Seniors, Home Delivered Commodities and Snow Angels.
