SIDNEY, Neb. - (KNEP) - A Canadian Company with the intention to expand to Sidney and create jobs for the area pulls out of the deal.

According to the City of Sidney’s Economic Development Director Melissa Norgard, they were notified by MMP Enterprises on Monday the deal was off. The logistics company out of Toronto, Ontario was expected to move into the old Cabela’s building and create over 150 jobs for the area.

Norgard stated this announcement came out of the blue and declined to comment further on what the letter they received earlier this week stated. She added, it’s unfortunate to see this happen but sometimes project come to a close before they are completed. Norgard believes this one setback won’t hinder the community.

MMP Enterprises contacted the city almost immediately after the building was made available. Norgard stated they will move forward in marketing the building and finding another suitable tenant that can bring jobs to the area.

NBC Nebraska has reached out to MMP Enterprises for comment and have not heard back at the time of this publication. We will continue to update as soon as more information becomes available.
