Chimney Rock closed during renovation project

BAYARD, Neb. Renovation is officially underway at Chimney Rock for the expansion of their Visitor’s Center.

This expansion project is expected to last until May. During this time, it will be closed. (Brian Sherrod, KNEP)

It began on November 1st and will last until May 2020.

During this time, Chimney Rock will be closed.

The current visitor center was built 25 years ago and attracts over 30,000 visitors a year.

The new expansion will include an additional 1,350 square feet, a new entrance that will double as a storm shelter, an indoor classroom and a gathering space.

They will also expand their gift shop, add accessible parking, an outdoor classroom and an open-concept theater space.
