SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) The Plasencio family were told they need to start making funeral arrangements for their father, and they are getting some help from our local Culver's. The home of the butter burger is donating 10% of all of its sales tonight between 5pm and 8pm to the family.
Victor Plasencio was diagnosed with a lung disease known as P.A.M. (pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis). At the time his lungs were at 47% capacity, now they are at 17%. He is one of three siblings to be diagnosed with P.A.M. out of ten siblings.
Mr. Plasencio’s daughter Vanessa works at Culver's, and when the general manger saw her struggling he stepped up to see how they could help. “she told us what was going on with helping her father with the funeral expenses so in case when the worst happens they have something to help with that,” said Chaz Urdiales, General Manager. “I said ‘well why don’t we talk about maybe doing a little bit more. Maybe a fundraiser to help out or see what we can do to help you.’”
Urdiales said that Vanessa is a hard-working employee, and he didn’t hesitate to jump in and try to help. “She's here, she's willing to stay late. She helps out, and she's always pushing the team and energetic when she's here.”
He hopes that 5 – 8pm on the 23rd will be very busy so that the family can work toward giving their father the kind of funeral he deserves, if the worst happens. Culver’s may also chip in with a donation to help the family out.
If you would like to help out, a family friend has set up a donation site. Their goal is $13,000.
