The tree decorating party is still set for Saturday from 1p until 3p and will feature new multi-color lights. It’s the first permanent tree at the plaza and was brought in from West Falls tree farm.

The Oregon Trail Foundation provided a grant to help pay for some of the decorations and the group is working on making it a Dr. Seuss whoville theme.

The annual Scottsbluff holiday parade is still set to go on at 6p on Sunday and will feature fire pits, hot cocoa, a bell choir and free pictures with Santa.

Next year, they hope to get a collection of small buildings and create an entire village similar to Santa’s Village in Gering.

Meanwhile, the City of Gering announced Friday they have cancelled their holiday parade and are postponing the opening of Santa’s Village. They will not have any events on Saturday and will instead open the village Saturday December 7th from 10am to 1pm.
