Driving cautiously through thick fog

By  |

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. As you travel to work or drop your child off to school, you want to be careful driving in thick fog.

The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles has some tips to follow for safe driving.

You want to use your low-beam lights or fog lights if your vehicle has them.

Do not use high beams because they reflect off the fog which causes glare and reduced visibility.

Make sure to slow down until your speed matches your ability to see.

You do not want to speed and cause an accident that could have been prevented.

If absolutely needed, pull off on the side of the road and find a safe place to park.

If there is an emergency, make sure to call 911.
