SIDNEY, Neb. (KNOP) A neighbor called 911 after she noticed a home on fire in Sidney on Friday.

Sidney Volunteer Fire Chief, LaVerne Bown, says his crews quickly knocked down the flames after they received the 11:18 a.m. call.

Bown says they had the kitchen fire under control in about 20 minutes.

He says the family of five was not home. The husband was at work, and the other four were shopping.

Bown says the State Fire Marshall Investigator ruled the fire accidental.
The home is a total loss and is not livable.
