Fire leaves Torrington family displaced; four pets killed

TORRINGTON, Wyo. A home on the 2900 block of West C Street in Torrington is at a total loss after a fire sparked Sunday morning.

According to Former Chief Dennis Estes from the Torrington Fire Department, the call came in around 4:45am.

Once they arrived on scene, the fire had already fed through the roof and burned down.

The neighbors say they noticed the fire around 2am but wasn’t sure what it was.

It took fire crews over four hours to put out the fire.
Estes says that people need to make sure their smoke detectors are always working.

“People need to be diligent about checking their smoke detectors,” said Dennis Estes, Former Chief for Torrington Fire. “Thank god nobody was home when this happened but we really need to be diligent in the fact that our smoke detectors are working and that the batteries are replaced. That could save so many lives.”

There were 20 firefighters on scene alongside Valley Ambulance and Torrington Police.

Two dogs and two cats were killed in the fire but the residents were not home at the time.

The cause of the fire still remains under investigation.
