Heavy rain floods North Platte streets, delays Miss Nebraska Competition

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A heavy thunderstorm full of rain and hail swept through North Platte and the surrounding area Saturday late afternoon and into the evening.

The storm produced inch and three quarters hail along its path.

Meteorologist Brayden Murdock says the storm dropped 1.63 inches of rain.

News 2 Reporter Jace Barraclough is on scene at the Miss Nebraska Competition. Barraclough said the competition's start was delayed because of the storms by about 20 minutes.

The storm also produced around 60 mph gusts.

As the storm rolled through town, the people of North Platte were reporting water covered roads and flooded out streets.
