Hwy 83 road repaired in advance of October snow storm

NEAR THEDFORD, Neb. (KNOP) - Nebraska Department of Transportation is now working to raised the roadbed of Highway 83 between Thedford and Valentine at mile marker 184. Higher than normal rainfall has kept this section of 83 under water since June.

Roads officials say the work is necessary to provide motorists a dry roadway in advance of a strong winter storm forecasted for Thursday. The road will remain open to traffic during construction but will be reduced to one-lane. The works should take a two days.

The traffic signals will remain in operation until officials evaluate the condition of the roadway.
