I80, I76 closing in western Nebraska at North Platte

Roads officials are closing Interstate 80 in the Panhandle because of blizzard conditions. Drivers are encouraged to get off the Interstate at Kearney, Lexington, North Platte, and Ogallala because both I-80 and I-76 are closed near Big Sprigns. Highway 30 is closed at Big Springs, too. BIG SPRINGS, Neb. (KNOP) - White out conditions are forcing Nebraska's Department of Transportation to close the Interstates going into Colorado and into Wyoming. NDOT will close I80 at North Platte at 7:30 p.m. Roads officials say parking lots and motels are filling up at Ogallala and Big Springs.

Interstate 80 and Highway 30 are closed at Big Springs. Interstate 76 is closed at the state line.

Officials say travelers need to exit I-80 at North Platte, Lexington, or Kearney. Big Springs and Ogallala do not have any more space for travelers.

Highway 30 at North Platte will also be closed.
