The Chase County Community Hospital bond fails.
984 people voted against the measure and 704 people voted for the bond.
The special bond election saw a 67% voter turnout
Chase County voters must return their ballots today. May 14th is the deadline in a mail-in election for the $20.5-million dollar bond issue for the Chase County Community Hospital and Clinic expansion.
Ballots must be at the County Clerk's office by 5 pm MT.
The Chase County Community Hospital has been a staple since 1977 and officials want to give it the renovation it deserves for the safety of it's patients. Chase county residents will be voting on a 20.5 million dollar expansion on May 14th.
Hospital officials say the facility needs an upgrade in technology and resources. They want to add new surgery, ER, lab and x-ray rooms. The hospitals CEO wants to give his staff and patients the best tools possible. CEO Steve Lewis said, "We have a saying around here that we are striving for perfection to reach excellence and we want to give excellent care to the people of this community, this county and this addition would help us do that."
All registered voters in the county will be receiving their ballots next week and have until May 14th to turn their ballots in to the county clerk.
