With the success of Bands on Broadway, the City of Scottsbluff is now introducing Food Truck Fridays.
The idea came as Economic Development Director Starr Lehl took a trip to Omaha for their Food Truck Thursdays and very much enjoyed it.
They decided to bring it to the City of Scottsbluff on a smaller scale.
“It is for the community,” said Lehl. “We just hope everybody comes down and has a great time. We are trying to make the plaza the gathering place for Scottsbluff so if there is something going on, it’s going to be happening in the plaza.”
Food Truck Fridays will start with six food trucks including Cornhusker Roast, Pineapple Express, Rosita’s Trokita, JAX Coffee and Snow, Get Roasted Coffee and Big Red Nebraska Popcorn.
The event will start on Friday, September 6th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and go on every Friday for the entire month of September.
They will also provide spotlight artists during the food truck event.
McKay Tebbs, Assistant Professor of Music at Chadron State College, will perform a variety of music for the first showing.
The goal is to bring more people to the downtown area.
“We want to continue bringing people to the downtown area,” said Jordan Diedrich, Deputy Public Works Director. “We have a beautiful downtown with plants and a beautiful plaza that is going to keep getting better. It brings people downtown so they can see those businesses and restaurants that are open. They can visit while they are downtown on Friday night.”
