SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - The Midwest Theater spruces things up thanks to a grant from Oregon Trail Community.
The $2,500 will help resurface the Midwest Theater stage and purchase a roll-out vinyl stage covering known as “marley;” which is a requirement for professional dancers.
Executive Director Billy Estes says the stage was last resurfaced 10 years ago and needed to be replaced. He added the stage began to splinter in spots and it was becoming difficult to roll heavy equipment across. Estes mentioned the new surface will be more durable.
The marley flooring is one more required resource the theater will now have. They are hoping with this, they can attract more professional artists from across the country. Estes said having their own marley will save money on rentals and travel costs for performers.
