Minatare wrestling team gets new mat and pads for season

Minatare, NEB The Minatare wrestling team practiced with a bad wrestling mat for several years.

This season was a little different thanks to fundraising and the community.

Head coach Tracy Gifford was on a mission during the off season to replace the old mat and pads.

Thanks to several team fundraisers and with the help of businesses, friends and a grant for $7,000 dollars by the Oregon Trail Community Foundation a new mat and pads were installed.

The overall sum of the project was a little over $10,000 dollars. Platte Valley Bank, CW Yount Foundation, B&C Steel, Sandberg Implement, MC Schaff, Winner Circle, Kelley Bean, Gering Auto Sales, Inland Truck Parts, Silver Spur, and Scottsbluff Winter Farmer's Market all contributed to the project.
