Mitchell man poses as a 14-year-old and sends messages to a minor

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - A Mitchell man is charged with enticement after posing as a 14-year-old and sending explicit messages to a minor.

According to court records, the 13-year-old victim met Conrad Newman once but never hung out with him. The two began sending explicit text messages to each other. The victim believed Newman was 19, although was told he was 14.

After obtaining the messages along with a description of Newman, officers located a Facebook page belonging to Conrad Roger which stated he was 23. From the page, officers realized Roger was not his real last name and was able to find his real name was Newman. They also found out Newman had been previously convicted on seven counts of 3rd degree sexual assault of a minor.

Newman is charged with a class IV felony with a bond set at 10% of 25,000.
