NPPD reports a growing number of scam calls regarding accounts

COLUMBUS, Neb. - (KNEP) - Nebraska Public Power District is heeding warning as scammers target individuals amid rising financial concerns.

According to the company, scammers are calling customers stating that they need to pay their bill immediately or else their power will be shut off. NPPD states they are seeing a growing number of these calls being reported since Thursday evening.

Vice President and Retail General Manager Tim Arlt details anyone who gets one of these calls should not let their guard down and should contact the company and law enforcement immediately.

He adds some scammers are spoofing the company’s phone number and also recommending several payment methods.

NPPD notes they do not call to ask customers for credit card information. If you receive one of these calls right the call back number down or consider asking where the caller is located.
