Officers chase down driver resisting after getting pulled over

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - A traffic stop turns into a brief foot chase Friday evening with one getting arrested.

According to the affidavit, officers witnessed a black Ford Focus driven by Nick Gallegos going over the center line on 10th Avenue. After executing a traffic stop, one officer noticed a glass pipe with residue inside it. The pipe was field tested and came back as suspected methamphetamine. A search of the car revealed 1.03oz of meth inside as well as small baggies.

When officers tried to place Gallegos under arrest he ran and later squared up to one of the officers and hit him. Despite being told numerous times to give up his hands, Gallegos continued to pull away.

Officers finally placed him under arrest. Gallegos is facing possession, third degree assault of an officer, obstructing a peace officer and driving under suspension. His bond was set at 10% of $100,000.
