SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - A child is safe with one woman now facing child abuse charges after officers enter a deplorable home.

According to the affidavit, a child was playing outside her home in the 2000 block of Avenue D on May 12th when she was told to come inside. The child didn’t want to come in and asked Clarissa Wagner if she could stay outside. Wagner allowed it and the child returned to playing.

A few hours later, the child was seen exiting a van that drove past the house. The child stood at the end of the block for a moment and was called on to come inside but didn’t respond. The child entered the van again which drove off.

Officers came to the house on a report of a missing child and spoke to Wagner. While inside her home, officers observed a strong odor and found animal feces and clutter strewn all throughout the home. They also saw three dogs along with furniture also torn apart. The animal feces was also seen inside the child’s room and officers had to be extra careful of where they stepped.

The child was later found in the 200 block of West 24th street. Wagner has since been charged with child abuse and faces a 10% of $25,000 bond.
