TORRINGTON, Wyo. Local Realtors and Appraisers in Torrington are learning how to preserve historic homes and buildings.

If you purchase or obtain a historic building or home, don’t cover up or remove any items that might have some historic value.

If you remove them, save them.

If these buildings are ever restored, they can use the original pieces.

“A community story can be told by the building in their community,” said Linda Klinck, Wyoming Main Street Program Manager. “It tells what era the building was built, tells what style the building was built and it gives you history. It provides a firm foundation of what your roots are in the community.”

It’s important to not only showcase your history but take good care of it as well.

“Take the time, look at buildings and evaluate whether they might be historically significant,” said Klinck. “Use the resources you have available to find out more.”
