GERING, Neb. (KNEP) The Scotts Bluff County Courthouse elevator is just about finished. Jay Steinle, Facilities Manager Scotts Bluff County said the inspection which should be finished soon, possibly this week.
The elevator shaft and the hydraulic cylinder that lifts and drops the elevator car were replaced. Crews finished 10 days earlier than planned.
Steinle said the project final bill hasn't been submitted, but the total cost should be $75,000 to $80,000. That's with the work finished. Pending inspection results, if anything needs to be updated that price may go up.
Signs on the courthouse door say "Elevator closed until Feb. 8th" But, Stienle said he thinks everything looks good so far. The equipment will remain as-is and shut off until the inspector passes the new shaft and cylinder.
