Scottsbluff man spits on an officer after breaking into a home

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - A Scottsbluff man who was placed under arrest for breaking into a home and causing a disturbance tried to fight back with officers.

According to the affidavit, officers were called to a residence in the 1200 block of 7th avenue during the day on October 11th. During that call, Willard New was seen knocking on the back door trying to enter. He was told to leave which he did.

Later that night, New reportedly returned. When officers arrived, they saw two broken windows and the individuals inside stated he was wielding a knife and pills. Officers spoke to New and arrested him for causing a disturbance. When he was brought to the cruiser to be transported, New became combative and spat on one of the officers.

New was then transported to the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center where he was to be booked. During the process, his handcuffs were taken off. New rushed at one of the officers who then put him back in cuffs. He is facing a 10% of $10,000 bond.
