Shortage in an outlet behind freezer cause of Minatare fire Sunday

MINATARE, Neb. A shortage in an outlet behind the freezer is the cause of a detached garage being a complete loss from a fire early Sunday morning.

Crews estimate $15,000 loss in contents inside and between $20,000 to $25,000 to rebuild. There was no inside at the time so no injuries have been reported. (David Schnell)

The call came in just before 4:30am for a structure fire on Clemans Road.

As crews from Minatare/Melbeta Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene, they found the detached garage fully engulfed and requested mutual aid from Scotts Bluff Rural Fire.

An engine tanker and six personnel from each department battled the flames for 15 to 20 minutes.
