Snow falls in Western Nebraska, severe weather possible across the state

A cold front rolled through the state on Thursday and parts of northwestern Nebraska saw some significant snow.

5" of snow fell south of Merriman and south of Valentine, 4.5" fell southwest of Mullen, 4" fell in the town of Mullen itself, 3" fell near Valentine and 2" fell near Tryon. Only a trace fell in North Platte.

After the snow and cold, warmer weather is expected through the rest of the week.
