SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - The Rubber Duck Dash will see a slight tweak due to the wet spring the Panhandle received.
According to Krista Sarchet, events coordinator for the United Way of Western Nebraska, the water levels at Trails West Camp are four feet higher than what they were last year. The currents are also really fast.
The organization decided Thursday to not have their volunteers go into the water. They are creating an alternative that is not something they had done in the past. Sarchet stated not having volunteers in the water was common when the event was in September hence why they moved it to an earlier month.
The event will go on as scheduled on July 20th with the dumping of the ducks occurring at 10:30 that morning. Sarchet said the ducks are going fast but they people can go to HERE to find out where to go and how much each one costs.
This is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year with the money going to various agencies in the community.
