Two Scottsbluff Schools Administrators receive awards

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - Two Scottsbluff Public Schools administrators receive awards at the annual Nebraska Council of School Administrators event.

Executive Director of Student Services Wendy Kemling-Horner was given the Nebraska Association of Special Administration Educators Distinguished Special Education Administrator award.

Holding the position for the past 13 years, Kemling-Horner was nominated by parents and special education administrators who describe her as a passionate person that promotes inclusion of all students. She also goes above and beyond to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Recently retired Chief Financial Officer Lavon Hood also received the Distinguished Service Award; which is given out to the individual who demonstrates exceptional, distinguished leadership in public education.

Hood served in the role of CFO for the past 11 years and was named Business Official of the Year in 2015. During her speech, Hood added helping young people become successful has been the most rewarding thing she could have imagined.
