Two men nabbed for stealing thousands out of two homes

Two men nabbed in Scottsbluff after burglarizing two homes Friday night and stealing thousands in jewelry and guns.

According to court records, officers were called to a residence on County Road G. The couple came home to all of their doors open, a four-wheeler missing and damage to a boat sun cover. Officers found an abandoned pick-up truck just down the road with several of the firearms taken from the residence inside along with footprints nearby.

The homeowner accounted for all but one, a .22 caliber revolver, firearm inside the truck.

Another report came in of a burglarized home just three or four miles away from the first home on Lake Minatare Road. Those owners told officers a window in their door was broken and $8,000 worth of jewelry was taken.

Another officer located the four wheeler at the intersection of Arlene Lane and 16th Avenue in Scottbluff and spoke to a nearby resident. That resident told officers Austin Weller and Sergio Vega Chairez had been to her home.

The two were later found in a residence the 1500 block of 4th avenue. Vega Chairez was found next to a backpack with the .22 revolver and a debit card along with a medical supplies. Officers also located more than an ounce of raw marijuana, THC wax and drug paraphernalia. The two were wearing shoes that matched the footprints found by the truck.

The two are being held on $900,000 bond with numerous charges including two counts of theft over $5,000 or more
