Two-year-old receives various burns after falling in a fire pit Monday

Mitchell, Neb. - (KNEP) A two-year-old is receiving treatment for burns after falling into a fire pit Monday afternoon.

According Police Chief Michael Cotant the call came in just after 2pm with the child falling into a brick fire pit that was used to burn leaves and yard waste.

The child is alleged to have received first, second and possibly third degree burns on his back and on the side of his face. Family members were there to grab the child out with Med 10 arriving on scene.

It is unknown at this time the condition of the child.
