Sgt. Josh Fink said 58-year-old Craig Widdel was arrested for driving under the influence and open container.

Widdel's vehicle crashed into the side of the McDonald's at Burlington and J Street. The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

At least two emergency vehicles were called to the scene.

The Hastings man had to be extracted from the vehicle and was taken by ambulance to Mary Lanning Healthcare. A Local4 reporter on scene said the vehicle's airbag had deployed.

HPD said he was treated for minor injuries and later booked into the Adams County Jail.

A McDonald's spokesperson said nobody inside the restaurant was injured.

The damage appeared to be to an entryway on the southwest corner of the restaurant. The vehicle did not enter the building itself.
