WNCC earns key win over Casper and make history in process

WNCC basketball player Merle Wiehl made history during WNCC's 64-53 win over Casper on Monday night.

Not only did the Lady Cougars earn a key win over a Region IX foe but Wiehl in addition to scoring 28 points broke the school's career scoring record for women's basketball.

The sophomore needed just five points to break the thirty six year old record held by Penny Mallett.

Wiehl broke the record in quick fashion scoring five points early in the first quarter. The record spearheaded a strong run for the Lady Cougars as they lead 25-9 in the first half. They would never trail in the contest.

WNCC improves to 18-3 on the season and will return to action at home Sunday against Trinidad State at noon followed by the men's contest at 2pm.
