Within the 32 games the Pioneers hosted last year, six were rain-outs.

Owner Chuck Heeman says four of those games could have been played with an infield cover.

Those games that were lost cost them to lose about 20% in sales.

Heeman says he appreciates the community support.

“It’s very flattering,” said Chuck Heeman, Owner. “I think the community support that we have had has been great. Not just with this but with corporate partners and fans coming to games. The support that we have had since we have been here for two and a half years now has been great. We had no idea what was going to happen.”

Each season, they see an increase with attendance.

The City of Gering will coordinate the infield project through a bid process.

They hope to get it by late spring of 2020.
