SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY, Neb. - (KNEP) - Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area is inviting the public to participate in a free bioblitz.

Members of the public can become ‘citizen scientists’ and work with biologists to survey a particular area while recording all plants and animals. This is done to find and develop an accurate snapshot of the wildlife present in the area this time of year.

The free event will kick off with food and a nature photography session at 6p on Friday July 19th with the overall event running through noon Saturday July 20th. Friday’s event will also include a sunset hike starting at 7:30p. Saturday’s activities will begin at 8a with birding, plants (9a), insects (10a) and reptile (11a) surveys.

An RSVP is required for Friday’s activities and although it is a free event, vehicles are required to have a Nebraska Park Entry Permit. The public can participate in all or just a few of the events if they choose to.

This is all done in coordination with the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies with The Nebraska Environmental Trust providing funds.
