Another round of storms possible early Sunday morning

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After early morning storms wreaked havoc on portions of the viewing, today turned out to be a pleasant day with temperatures in the 80s for most. Warmer in western and southern spots. While this evening will be quiet, there is a chance for another round of showers and thunderstorms early tomorrow morning. A cluster of storms will move out of the northwest part of the state and push across the area from northwest to southeast. There is uncertainty on how much thunderstorm activity there will be. There will be a chance of some severe storms again. Those primary threats being large hail and damaging wind gusts . After a mostly cloudy start to the day, the sun will return again tomorrow afternoon with highs from the lower 80s northeast to the low/mid 90s southwest.

The heat will return going into next week, although on Monday, there could be quite the divide across the area. Highs may remain in the 80s over Eastern Nebraska while they climb to near 100° in the southwest. The hottest temperatures will come Tuesday and Wednesday. While it may begin to cool down a little Thursday, it looks like the next drop in temperatures may be delayed a bit. By Friday and into the first weekend of August, most places will be back into the 80s for highs. Otherwise, some slight chances of thunderstorms will remain in the forecast next week, mainly overnight and early morning.
