New theater chain announced for the Conestoga Marketplace
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Conestoga Marketplace has found its movie theater operator with the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce announcing B&B Theatres will be running the silver screens.
The facility will feature a brand new seven screen theater with heated recliner seating, a 10 lane bowling alley, 7,000 square foot arcade with both classic and new games, 4 full-size pickleball courts (both indoor and outdoor), plus a restaurant and full service bar.
“Our family-owned, privately-held company is thrilled to join the Grand Island market. It is a beautiful community that feels like a B&B kind of town,”: B&B Theatres president, Bob Bagby, said. “We love what we do and can’t wait to bring the magic of the movies to the area.”
According to the G.I. Chamber announcement, the theater is set to open in 2024 at the Conestoga Marketplace. B&B Theatres operators only one other theater in Nebraska, Omaha Oakview Plaza 14.
Woodsonia 281 is the developer of the Conestoga Marketplace. Woodsonia spokesman Mitch Hohlen told Local4 the theater will be on the northwest corner of the marketplace just north of Best Buy. Hohlen did not have a opening date for the theater, but did say, “We couldn’t be more excited...it’s going to be a great addition.”
B&B spokesman Paul Farnsworth told Local4 that the restaurant in the complex will be called “Sterling’s,” named after Sterling Bagby, one of the founders of the company. Farnsworth said the restaurant will feature “fast casual” food which can be eaten either in a sit-down setting or taken to other locations in the complex including the theatre. The menu will include flat-bread pizza, hamburgers and chicken tenders.
