U.S. Chamber of Commerce awards Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce with 5-Star Accreditation

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce a 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective procedures, and positive community impact. This is the Chamber’s second time receiving this award.
“Receiving the 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for the second time in our history is an incredible honor. I am truly humbled by this achievement, and it reaffirms our commitment to excellence in serving our businesses and community. This designation is not just about the Chamber—it’s about the Kearney area and the incredible people who make it thrive,“ Derek Rusher, President and CEO said.
In order to achieve Accreditation, a chamber must meet specific standards in governance, government affairs, communications, and technology. The extensive self-review can take between six to nine months to complete.
Laurie Widdowson, the Chamber’s Board Chair said achieving the 5-Star Accreditation is a remarkable milestone that highlights the collective strength, vision, and leadership of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This prestigious designation positions our chamber among the finest in the nation, underscoring the dedication and hard work of our board, staff, and members. It is a privilege to serve an organization that is rooted in excellence and making a meaningful impact in our community,” Widdowson said.
Local chambers are rated as Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members, makes the final determination.
