Mormon Island suspect sentenced in case

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man has been sentenced and has already served his time in a child sexual assault case from last year.
Michael Nicewonder pleaded no contest to 3rd degree sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Nicewonder is one of two men who were charged in the rape of a 15-year-old boy at Mormon Island Recreation Area.
A judge sentenced him to 180 days on each charge to be served concurrently. His sentence began on December 8, 2020. Due to time served, he was released from jail on January 25, 2021.
The 33-year-old was originally charged with third degree sexual assault of a child, but it was amended to the lesser charge.
