Warm weather will be back for the end of the week, but big changes come next week
September 7, 2023 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Smoky skies continue this morning across the area, but it is otherwise sunny. As the day goes on, the smoke should hopefully clear out a little bit. It could still be a bit hazy through. Winds will pick up a little bit out of the southeast at 5 to 15 mph with some gusts to 20 mph. It will be a warmer day with highs ranging from the lower 80s northeast to the lower 90s southwest. This evening, isolated thunderstorms may develop in North Central Nebraska. Any storms that develop will then push southeast through the night. Most thunderstorms activity will remain north and east of the Tri-Cities with a slight chance in the Tri-Cities. It’ll likely remain dry farther southwest. Some isolated severe weather is possible with large hail and severe winds gusts as the main threat. Low temperatures tomorrow morning will mostly be in the mid to upper 50s to right around 60°.
Another warm and sunny day is anticipated Friday as high temperatures get back into the 80s and lower 90s. A few thunderstorms may develop in the west Friday evening, then push east toward Central Nebraska later in the night. Some may continue into Saturday. Otherwise, Saturday will be another warm day with breezier southerly winds of 10 to 20 mph. Highs on Saturday will get back into the 80s and lower 90s. A cold front is then going to push south Saturday night into Sunday. The chance of rain and thunderstorms will increase Saturday night into Sunday. With the extra clouds and rain around, highs will range from the mid 60s north to the upper 70s southeast. With the rain continuing to be more widespread Sunday night into Monday, the hope is that much of the area will pick up on some much-needed rain. Monday will be quite cool with highs in the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s. The middle of next week will be very fall-like with lows in the upper 40s and highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. The chances of rain will be lower, but can’t be ruled out. Later in the week, it’ll warm a little bit with temperatures getting up into the mid to upper 70s. By next weekend, we’ll see highs mostly in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
