Broadway Academy staff takes the stage ahead of weekend performances
CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Broadway Academy staff took the stage ahead of this weekend’s performances in Central City to raise money for the camp’s scholarship fund.
The Broadway Academy is a non-profit organization that brings in professional actors from New York to Los Angeles to Central Nebraska to give students from rural communities the chance to learn and work alongside professionals.
Friday night’s staff performance was a fundraiser for the scholarship fund for the camp, and Artistic Director Taylor Eliason said that it means a lot to him to be able to give back.
“I mean I came from a financial situation where I couldn’t afford camps like this and through charity, I was able to attend some that really did change my life,” Eliason said. “And that’s kind of a big reason why I’m here doing camp for these kids is just because I know what it meant to me.”
The week has consisted of acting, dancing and singing in group settings and one-on-one coaching sessions with some of the actors.
Eliason said that anyone planning to attend this weekend’s performances will not be disappointed.
“You can expect incredible talent, wonderful performances, transformations. Kids who came in not being singers and actors and leaving stars,” said Eliason. “You’re bound to be impressed, wowed, and just proud of the kids from your community that can do these incredible, incredible things.”
Students performances are on Saturday at 7:30p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Central City High School theater.
