LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska volleyball star Harper Murray has been sentenced to probation after being found guilty of DUI.

Lancaster County Judge Joseph Dalton sentenced the 19-year-old to nine months probation and revoked her license for 60 days. She was also ordered to pay a $500 fine.

Murray will be allowed to drive during the revocation period when she applies for an ignition interlock permit. The sentencing also carries a variety of fees for court and lab costs.

Murray’s attorney, Brad Roth, said after the sentencing that she’s “more than willing” to complete those terms.

Just after 12:45 a.m. on April 5, officers spotted an Audi SUV driving east on Vine Street between 16th and Antelope Valley Parkway breaking multiple traffic laws, according to Lincoln Police,.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined Murray was driving under the influence. A breath test showed her BAC at 0.169.

Lincoln Police said Murray also had a fake ID and failed to comply with multiple officer directives during the investigation.

Murray pled no contest to one count of DUI and was found guilty on June 24. In exchange, prosecutors dropped two other charges.

On June 18, Murray was also charged in a separate shoplifting case. She faces one count of stealing goods less than $500, a misdemeanor.

However, Murray was accepted into a diversion program in the case. The program will allow her to avoid a conviction by taking classes, performing community service or paying restitution.

Roth said Murray will finish the program in December, and if all the requirements are met the case will be dismissed. It’s unclear what specifically she will be required to do as part of the program.

A hearing for that diversion program is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2025.

In May, Murray posted an apology to her Instagram story and said she regretted the decisions she’d made. On Monday Roth said she’s had a “dramatic turnaround” and wants to complete both the probation and diversion and “move on.”

“I’ve seen a big improvement,” he said. “Kids that age go through rough periods, she’s 19 ... she’s in good shape.”
