ST. LOUIS (KMOV/Gray News) - A sheriff’s deputy is accused of sexually assaulting a detainee in St. Louis.

KMOV reports that St. Louis Police have been investigating an alleged sexual assault inside the St. Louis Criminal Justice Center by a St. Louis City Sheriff’s Deputy on Feb. 10.

An attorney believes this is not the first act of misconduct by the deputy.

“I can also confirm that we are trying to pin down the start of the misconduct, and the internal affairs investigation exceeds the scope of this one deputy sheriff,” attorney Blake Lawrence said.

Lawrence said there are several sensitive issues and confirmed the sheriff’s office had been conducting an internal investigation into that deputy for potentially several instances of alleged conduct that started late last year.

The deputy has not been charged.
