Hastings school superintendent on administrative leave
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A member of the Hastings Public Schools (HPS) Board of Education confirmed Wednesday to Local4 that Superintendent Christopher Prososki was placed on paid administrative leave on April 13.
School board member Jodi Graves said Prososki is on leave while the school investigates what she called a “personnel matter.” She did not say whether it was related to a police citation last month involving Prososki’s wife for shoplifting. Graves had no further comment.
Local4 left a voicemail Wednesday morning on Prososki’s office phone, but as of midmorning that had been no return phone call.
Local4 also left a message for school board president Becky Sullivan, which was not immediately returned.
Hastings Police cited Jennifer Prososki for shoplifting alcohol March 4. She resigned from her position as special education teacher at Alcott Elementary School after the citation.
Prososki, a Kearney native, took over as superintendent for HPS on July 1, 2025. He replaced Jeff Schneider, who retired at the end of the 2024-25 school year. Schneider had been the HPS superintendent since 2019.
