GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island postal worker is recovering from facial injuries after he was attacked by a dog on Tuesday.

Grand Island animal control officer Elliott Andrews confirmed the attack happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 700 block of West 14th street. Chin Lim, 62, was injured and was hospitalized. Andrews said the dog was a pit bull mix, was up-to-date on its vaccinations and this was the first report about it attacking someone. He declined to name the dog’s owner, but said the dog is being held pending further investigation. At this time there are no charges or citations.

Grand Island police said Lim was taken first to CHI St. Francis and was later transferred to Bergan Mercy hospital in Omaha. A letter carrier’s union spokesperson said Lim was in critical but stable condition.
