SEWARD, Neb. (KOLN) - The Nebraska State Patrol released the identity of a woman and a man, who authorities said shot her in Seward overnight on Saturday.

Seward County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a household near Lincoln and North Second streets at 11:46 p.m.

According to NSP, officers arrived on scene and saw a man, 54-year-old Casey Kindt, exiting the house, suffering from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside the house, officers found a woman, 36-year-old Jamie Hagen, dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers also located a juvenile inside the home. The juvenile had made the initial call to 911 and was unharmed.

NSP said Kindt was taken to Seward Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been transferred to UNMC in Omaha for additional treatment.

NSP said troopers are maintaining custody of Kindt during his medical treatment.

The Nebraska State Patrol was requested to conduct a homicide investigation.

According to NSP, investigators have discovered that Hagen had a protection order against Kindt.

NSP said it is believed Kindt entered the home, shot Hagen multiples times, then shot himself.

NSP was assisted by the Seward Police Department and Seward County Sheriff’s Office. This is an ongoing investigation.
