HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Here are the four stories you need to know for February 10, 2025.

Child Abuse

A Hastings couple has been charged with child abuse after a tip from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. On February 3, HPD learned of a possible abusive situation at the residence of Lisa and Joseph Bell.

After an investigation, the two were arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse, but have since bonded out. HPD isn’t releasing many details and court records have been sealed due to the ages of the children.

Drug Bust

A 75-year-old Wheeler County man is behind bars after the Tri-City Drug Enforcement Team, TRIDENT, found him driving with over 40 pounds of marijuana.

Tim Schlenger was arrested after a traffic stop on Highway 91 east of Ericson for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

7 Brew opening in Kearney

The wait is over for coffee fans in Kearney. The drive through coffee shop 7 Brew will be holding a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m.

Members from the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce as well as 7 Brew will be there for the event. They will be donating $2,000 to the Kearney Area Animal Shelter to celebrate their opening.

Your forecast

Today will be the last “warm” day until Valentines Day later this week, as we have a cold front with some moisture approaching. With this, we are expected to see a few inches of snow.

We’re not expecting this event to be severe, but we absolutely could see slick roads as well as very cold temperatures. With how cold it is going to be, this will likely be a very dry and powdery snow.

Temperatures should warm back up a little bit late this week before we see them fall again this weekend.
