MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - Tennessee state Sen. Brent Taylor is addressing alleged “past indiscretions” that resurfaced a week before Election Day.

Taylor is running for both reelection to the state Senate and Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District.

On Tuesday, the Nashville Scene reported that multiple sources told the publication they had received or seen unsolicited nude photos from Taylor.

The Republican senator acknowledged sending the photos, describing them as part of his past and calling them “youthful indiscretions.”

According to the report, a person received a nude photo from Taylor as recently as 2021, when Taylor was 53 years old.

“Whatever story you think you’ve got, my wife is well aware of it, and we’ve worked through it a long time ago. My God and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same,” Taylor is quoted in the report.

Taylor also released a statement following the report:

“Well, I guess this signals where we are in the campaign and who the frontrunner is with 7 days left until Election Day.

I’m willing to acknowledge my past indiscretion. The frustrating part is that my wife now has to relive this nonsense we’ve already worked through years ago together and moved on from.

Tennessee Niners aren’t concerned about my family or this type of past nonsense. They’re concerned about their family and the prices they’re paying at the grocery store and gas station.

That’s why I’m running for Congress—to stop Democrat Socialist Justin Pearson. He would be an ongoing public embarrassment if elected. Voters have a stark contrast this election.

When given the choice, they will choose Competence Over Chaos."

Taylor has served in the state Senate since 2023. He is now running for the U.S. House in Tennessee’s 9th District against Democratic state Rep. Justin Pearson and independents Dennis Clark and Michelle Head.

Pearson also released a statement on Tuesday:

“Men of faith –– let alone men who are married, in their fifties, and in public office –– have no business sending unsolicited nude photos to women.

Earlier today, the Nashville Scene reported that my opponent, Trump-endorsed Brent Taylor, admitted to sending unsolicited nude photos exposing himself to multiple women. This news reflects very disturbing behavior from someone who has been married for 30 years, professes Christian values and has held government office since 1995.

Taylor’s belief that sending unwanted naked photos of himself to women at 53 years old is “youthful indiscretion” is a ridiculous and dangerous mischaracterization of the type of predatory behavior that needs to be rooted out of our society and politics. Career politicians like him have been abusing their power and getting away with it for far too long.

Tennessee deserves leaders who respect women—not those who sexually harass, expose their genitalia, or take advantage of them. This disgusting behavior is unbecoming of any elected official."

This year’s midterm Election Day is Nov. 3.
